Walkers 2 Runners

Parkruns These are weekly 5km walk/jog/runs held in local parks. Free to enter, you simply register for a barcode, turn up and go! The closest are Bedgebury - (http://www.parkrun.org.uk/bedgeburypinetum/), Hastings (http://www.parkrun.org.uk/hastings/) and Maidstone (http://www.parkrun.org.uk/maidstone/). They are fun, friendly events and the organisers are always looking for volunteers to help marshal etc (particularly at Bedgebury). Look them up and give it a go!

We have a number of events planned for next year - it's always more fun to plan and train for these together.

Bushy parkrun (Bushy Park, Teddington). This is where parkrun was born and it frequently attracts 1,000+ walkers, joggers and runners. I thought it would be fun for us to do it and am willing to drive a minibus (seats 17 of us). I am suggesting Saturday 9th March 2019.

Paddock Wood Half Marathon: Sunday 7th April 2019.
https://register.primoevents.com/ps/event/PaddockWoodHalfMarathon Any one of you can train for and run a Half in four months; I have programmes that you can follow - just ask!

Vitality 10,000: Monday 27th May 2019. https://www.vitalitylondon10000.co.uk/ Slightly more 'doable' than a Half and, coming a month after the London Marathon, with the city still on a high, it's like doing the Marathon without the extra (gruelling) 20 miles. There's a great party atmosphere; we can take a picnic and travel together - such fun!

The Gauntlet Games: July 2019.
http://thegauntletgames.co.uk/ A number of us did this in 2017; it was enormous fun and not too tough/muddy! Once the dates are released, I'll let you know and we'll see if we can get a team together.

The Hospice in the Weald Moonlight Walk. June 2019. I think this takes place on the 8th of June but have lost the details! I can't actually make it (sorry!) but it would be a great challenge for the walkers amongst you.

If you are interested in entering any of these events, do let me know; similarly, if you hear of any events that you think would be fun to attend, let me know and I'll share with the group!
